A decent read

Silver and Black is about a business tycoon, Mr. Silver, and an ordinary guy who works at one of Silver's coffee shops, Mr. Black. It was no surprise that the rich man fell for the employee. So for those of you who enjoy a sweet, if not predictable, love story, this would be a book for you. I had trouble feeling the connection between Silver and Black at times, mainly on Silver's end. I wonder if it's because nothing is from his POV. While we can see Black's thoughts and feelings, we don't get that from Silver. So, all I can really tell is that Black is somehow special and different to Silver, but *why*? There's just a disconnect. I was being told how Silver was, but not feeling it.
Another thing is that Black, an "independent man" as described in the book, can't seem to put his foot down about anything until toward the end. He would think one thing about Silver spoiling him, but then allow himself to be talked into whatever Silver was wanting to do for him. All the supporting characters were conveniently there to say how nice Mr. Silver is and how he never does this for anyone else. Okay, but where is Black's strength of will? He's a man, after all, and he just is constantly pushing aside his issues only for them to appear later, when then they are "accepted" again (but not really because the next gift is sure to bring it back up).
My final issue with the book is the editing (or lack of). Be prepared for consistent wrong words, misspellings, and short, awkward sentences.
To end on a positive note, I liked the unexpected climax of the story. I never saw that one coming. The sex scenes were pretty hot, and the main characters likable, even with the problems I have regarding them. The underlying plot was pretty complex, and I enjoyed that. So overall a solid read. Tyler is certainly improving as an author and it's showing as S&B is a bestseller. Good work!

Very Slow... Needed More Sooner

So I am not sure what to say about this book. I have so many conflicting thoughts on it. It had the potential to be good - or maybe even very good. The writing was fairly decent (needs editing though), the storyline was decent - there may have been some similarities to a certain popular BDSM series (but this is NOT a BDSM book) - but many billionaire books do. I was fine with it. I even guessed some of the surprises early on in the book that are revealed at the end... But that's not what bothered me. What bothered me was that there really was nothing going on with the book until 87%. I just kept waiting for something to really get the book moving and 45% went by, then 55% and 70% etc. I started skimming around 75%. There was no tension between the two. Sexual tension is great, but things weren't like that. Grey fell for Silver right away. There was no fight between the two. That is what makes a book great. The push and pull between two characters. It was missing that big time. It was insta-lust and then insta-love. So I guess I like a little (or a lot) more angst to my books then this one had.

What a disappointment. Is it meant to be a gay copy of 50shades of Grey? Because it didn't work. At least the names could have been changed to something different. Sorry it just wasn't worth the dollar price.
