Big Failure Fans

We've read all five! And it is required "read aloud" reading at my house because otherwise, every 30 seconds I'd hear "Mom, listen to this!" Plus, I think I enjoy the series as much as he does (11 yo son). So, my only complaint is that it ended far too soon. My son laughed out loud with tears streaming down his face unable to catch his breath on multiple occasions. It just doesn't get any better than that. The humor is spot-on: delightfully irreverent and stealthily sweet. Please hurry up with the sequels!! :-)

So hilarious!! My 8 year old loves it!!!!!!!

I bought this to read to my 8 year old son. Oh my it is so funny! We both laugh out loud at the funny parts all the time. I don't ever remember reading a book so funny. He loves it. It is nice to find an enjoyable book to read to him at night. Makes reading every night more fun. He has a hard time with reading and school so this makes it more enjoyable. I am going to look for more by this author. This was a great find!

these are some funny books, for kids, and adults with a sense of humor

Im not a kid, and I still loved these books. I got them for my grandson(9 yrs old) so he could do something other than play games on his Kindle. He liked them so much he has been reading them out loud to me. When I bought them I had them delivered to my Kindle by mistake, and they looked interesting so I gave it a little read. I enjoyed them so much I read them all.
Stephan Pastis writes an easy to read story, with some twists and turns, but not so much my grandson cant follow it. Timmy does silly stuff and draws enough wrong conclusions we both were yelling--TIMMY--you've got it all wrong! I cant say enough good things about these books. I recommend them for adults and for kids.

One of my life-influencing books

At the tender age of 13, I found this book in my parents' bookshelf and devoured it. Repeatedly. The sections on cosmology were a thorough and readable introduction that was basically good up to Hawking. The sections on sociology formed the basis of my worldview and in some ways still do.
Not that I'm recommending this become a new world religion, but any book that can influence someone to this extent must be worth at least a read...
Asimov's style is clear, casual, and readable by anyone. His subject matter is deep and not easily outdated. The book is a great introduction to several topics, not the least of which is the way people think as a group.
Obviously recommended.

Non-Fiction

Fans of Dr. Asimov's non-fiction might like this book, but the subject matter is a little more advanced than in his other non-fiction books. Most of his early books consist of 17 chapters. Science, Numbers and I has 8 chapters on science, 8 chapters on numbers and 1 chapter on Asimov, himself.
Asimov was still developing his voice as a non-fiction author, but it's still a good book, but readers without a science background would be advised to read some of his easier books, like Jupiter and The Planet that Wasn't.

He has captivated an audience of the masses by speaking of love and relationships. He tells women do not be afraid to love again. But don't settle. Its okay to wait. Putting Everything On the line

This is a book for everyone. I have to say if I had this book 13 years ago, it would have changed my outlook on slot of things. My book came 4 days earlier than what it was supposed too and once I got it I couldn't put it down. I recommend this book to everyone who has teenage children, woman and men. It will teach your sons what a woman expects and teaches your daughters what to except what not to except and why they except what they have been excepting! It was very nice to finally put into perspective what I had dealt with for so many years and put a voice and name to it, when I could never express exactly how and what I've been through! Everyone made a big deal outta thinking like a man act like a lady, if you ask me this book is BETTER than that! Because woman can never think like a man and act like a lady. What Mr. Soul does is teach us that it's okay to think like a lady and act like a lady and as a lady why we tolerate what we do and then he goes even further to have you question yourself why you did. Awesome book

An excellent beginner book

This is a beautifully crafted introduction to OCaml. It is true to its title, in that it makes no assumptions about background, and as such is suitable for any intelligent undergraduate. Despite this, the book is concise and to the point, explaining the basic underpinnings of OCaml (and of functional programming) in an accessible way. The book is also thoughtfully typeset and laid out, with exercises and summaries interspersed, and layout used to illustrate complex ideas like type inference and evaluation of recursive functions.

All told, a wonderful book that is especially well suited to someone new to programming.

Easy Introduction

A very good and simple introduction to the basics of this amazing language. Short, easily digested chapters introduce each new concept. More advanced concepts are only briefly covered such as modules. Functors and OO are not covered. Having said that, this must be the easiest way of getting into the language or getting an introduction to the language. This book will prepare you to tackle the more comprehensive treatises such as "Real World OCaml: Functional programming for the masses" (also highly recommended) with ease.
